Racial discrimination by a Filipino cashier.
This idiotic cashier served others with a smile, but when it came to me, she had a black face. Such discrimination needs to be reviewed by Giant's management.
The staff here are helpful and enthusiastic. Today (22.6.2025, 12 noon), there was a super friendly staff member, an 'uncle', who reminded me to use my Yuu reward as it would be expiring in a few days. I was using the self-service counter. He reminded me again when I was about to make payment, but I hadn't met the minimum amount required to use the voucher, and he even calculated how much I should spend to use it! So, I managed to get an item to make up for it. Such helpfulness is greatly appreciated!
I'm thrilled that Giant has opened a supermarket right near my house—it's incredibly convenient for me and my neighbors. The spacious layout is a definite plus, with wide walkways that make shopping a breeze, not a squeeze! The powerful air conditioning adds to the comfort, making every visit enjoyable regardless of the weather outside. Thanks, Giant, for bringing such convenience and comfort to our neighborhood—I couldn't ask for more from a local supermarket!
I stopped by the new Giant supermarket in Tengah on a scorching day, expecting a quick drink run. I was pleasantly surprised to find a well-stocked store filled with premium groceries. The selection almost felt like a CS Fresh, Giant's upscale sister brand. It's definitely worth a visit for a more upscale grocery shopping experience in the Tengah area.
This Giant sells expired yoghurt. Daily Fresh yoghurt that expired on June 25 was still in the fridge today, June 27. When I highlighted this to one of the staff, their first response was "this one is stocked by another auntie." I had to insist that this is Giant's problem before they said they would inform the other staff.
The auntie also asked me whether there were a lot of expired goods. It's 2-3 tubs of yoghurt, not a lot in the grand scheme of things, but does that mean having "just a few" expired goods is OK?! This is a system failure in the management of fresh goods and turnover in Giant. Disappointed in Giant, and in the attitude of their staff.
Overall, the food is nice and fresh, it's kid-friendly, and the service is good. The tonjiro soup tastes surprisingly good; my son liked it so much. Unfortunately, the restaurant only provides mineral water instead of warm water, but this does not affect the rating or the quality of the food.
Overall, the food was fresh and decent, but the service was so slow.
I spent 20 minutes waiting for food that wasn't exceptionally long to prep, but in between, staff were rushing out numerous ramen and grab food orders. Even the staff were aware they were keeping us waiting, as they apologized when food was served. The quality of the food seemed to suffer a bit as well, since items looked slightly rushed. They even got my partner's special order wrong, serving ginger that was supposed to be removed and not differentiating the sauces we picked for our orders.
As a physical store, it really seems that they have too many menu items to manage, which slows cooking time, and too many online orders to handle.
After finishing my meal, the staff were still back-to-back packing grab food orders, and we were waiting at the cashier counter for 10 minutes before being able to make payment.
I had heard good things about Kei Kaisendon and was looking forward to a good meal, but sadly, the food quality was not enough to make up for this huge wait time. Perhaps they should just stick to kaisendons and not feature such a huge menu variety, as it's clearly slowing down their kitchen preparation and preventing them from focusing on delivering a few good, high-quality items.
The wait was extremely long. The food was only so-so. I saw many angry faces waiting for their food. All the food wasn't delivered on one tray, confusing hungry customers about whose side dishes belonged to who. We don't think we will come again.
